My sister Dorothy, This is my last goodbye and you will be sadly missed, I will forever have happy memories of our child hood and happier times.
Lots of love and a final goodbye from Brother John and Christine xxx
Nanny,
People say we are loved by many, and I know that is true. But no one’s love could ever feel quite the way it did from you.
I don’t believe love ends when life does, Nanny. I know you’ll always be with me in the little moments that remind me of you and the memories we made.
Those childhood memories in your favourite place (do not worry, Nick still says we are coming back to Devon!) will stay with me forever. Sharing cream teas and somehow always finding room for a Hockings ice cream, baking jam tarts and apple pies together in that back kitchen, playing waitress in Kumba, and wandering through gardens with a little bag tucked into your pocket that would somehow always come home filled with cuttings. I will treasure sitting by the sea with you, crabbing off the quay, visiting the garden gnomes, and the countless hours we spent on the phone, talking about everything and nothing at all.
One of the greatest joys was getting to watch you make those same memories with Alice. Seeing the two of you together, sharing the same laughter, kindness and simple pleasures that filled my childhood, is something I will always be grateful for.
You never hurried past a stranger without a smile or a conversation, and no animal was ever left without your care.
You always saw the good in people and I hope your spirit lives on in me.
I hope that when people meet me, they catch a glimpse of you. If I can make people feel even half as loved as you always made me feel, then I’ll know I’ve done you proud.
Thank you for believing in me, for encouraging me, and for loving me so completely.
Thank you for being my Nan, my friend, my biggest supporter, and one of the most important people in my life.
Until we meet again Nanny, you are always welcome. Always missed. Always loved.
Love Lauren
